PENGGUNAAN SQUID PROXY SERVER UNTUK MEMPERCEPAT AKSES INTERNET MENUJU SITUS PENDIDIKAN PADA WARUNG KOPI

ABSTRAK

Fasilitas internet merupakan layanan tambahan yang disediakan pihak warung kopi dalam menghadapi persaingan dengan warung kopi lainnya menyusul meningkatnya pertumbuhan warung kopi pada saat ini khususnya kota Banda Aceh. Banyak dari kalangan pelajar dan mahasiswa yang memanfaatkan fasilitas ini untuk mencari bahan sekolah maupun bahan kuliah dengan mengakses situs pendidikan. Namun, kendala yang dihadapi saat ini adalah lambatnya akses internet yang disebabkan oleh ketersediaan bandwidth yang terbatas, sehingga para pelajar dan mahasiswa yang mengakses situs pendidikan menjadi lambat. Dalam tugas akhir ini, dilakukan pengidentifikasian terlebih dahulu terhadap situs pendidikan dengan melakukan survey pembagian kuesioner ke warung kopi, sekolah, dan perguruan tinggi serta juga dilakukan wawancara dengan Dinas Pendidikan Provinsi Aceh. Selanjutnya, digunakan squid proxy server sebagai salah satu solusi untuk mempercepat akses internet menuju situs pendidikan. pengujian delay dan throughput dilakukan untuk melihat pengaruh penggunaan squid proxy server. Pada pengujian delay, didapatkan hasil berupa waktu penghematan setelah penggunaan squid proxy server rata-rata sebesar 57,80 %. Sedangkan pada pengujian throughput, squid proxy server berhasil menghemat bandwidth dengan penghematan rata-rata mencapai 56,94 %.

THE USE OF SQUID PROXY SERVER TO INCREASE INTERNET ACCESS TO EDUCATION SITES IN COFFEE SHOPS

ABSTRACT

Internet facility is an additional service provided by coffee shops to compete with the other coffee shops that following by the growth of the coffee shop, especially in Banda Aceh city. A lot of students use this facility to search for school materials or college materials by accessing the education sites. But, the current problem is the slow of internet access due to the limited availability of bandwidth, so that the network that used by students to access the education site becomes slow. In this thesis, first of all is to identity education sites by survey which is distribution a questionnaires to coffee shops, schools, and colleges, and also conducted an interview with Education Department of Aceh province. Furthermore, squid proxy server is used as solution to increase internet access to education sites. From delay and throughput test we can see the effect of using squid proxy server. On delay testing, the result using squid proxy server is 57.80%. While on throughput testing, Squid proxy server successfully save bandwidth with average savings reached 56,94 %.
