Pemecahan masalah merupakan salah satu kemampuan yang dibutuhkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Masalah yang muncul dalam kehidupan setiap manusia beragam dari berbagai bidang. Setiap permasalahan memerlukan strategi tersendiri untuk menemukan solusinya. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah dapat dipelajari melalui suatu proses pembelajaran. Satu diantara proses pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan untuk melatih kemampuan pemecahan masalah adalah pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa selama pembelajaran matematika pada materi SPLDV dengan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) yang dilaksanakan di kelas VIII-C SMPIT Nurul Fikri Boarding School Aceh yang berjumlah 21 siswa. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Untuk memperoleh data penelitian diberikan perlakuan (treatment), tes pemecahan masalah, dan wawancara. Subjek penelitian diambil setelah dilakukan tes akhir pertemuan, sehingga didapat 2 subjek berkemampuan tinggi, 2 subjek berkemampuan sedang, dan 2 subjek berkemampuan rendah. Selanjutnya dilakukan wawancara terhadap enam subjek tersebut. Setelah seluruh data terkumpul maka data-data kualitatif dianalisis secara deskriptif, sedangkan data hasil tes dianalisis berdasarkan pedoman penilaian kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, analisis data, dan pembahasan ditemukan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa melalui penerapan model Problem Based Learning di SMPIT Nurul Fikri Boarding School Aceh sudah tergolong baik. Oleh karena itu, model ini bisa menjadi salah satu solusi yang dapat diterapkan untuk mengembangkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa.

Problem solving is one of the skills needed in everyday life. Problems that arise in the life of every human being vary from various fields. Each problem requires its own strategy to find a solution. Problem solving ability can be learned through a learning process. One of the learning processes that can be used to practice problem solving skills is learning mathematics. This study aims to describe the problem-solving abilities of students during mathematics learning on the SPLDV material with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model which was carried out in class VIII-C of SMPIT Nurul Fikri Boarding School Aceh, totaling 21 students. The research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. To obtain research data given treatment (treatment), problem solving tests, and interviews. The research subjects were taken after the final test of the meeting, in order to obtain 2 high-ability subjects, 2 moderately capable subjects, and 2 low-ability subjects. Furthermore, interviews were conducted on these six subjects. After all the data is collected, the qualitative data is analyzed descriptively, while the test result data is analyzed based on the guidelines for assessing students' problem solving abilities. Based on the results of research, data analysis, and discussion, it was found that students' mathematical problem solving skills through the application of the Problem Based Learning model at SMPIT Nurul Fikri Boarding School Aceh were classified as good. Therefore, this model can be a solution that can be applied to develop students' problem solving abilities. Keywords: Problem solving, Problem Based Learning
