The purpose of this study is to look at some given theories and research findings on the use of communicative language teaching in teaching speaking skill for senior high school students. The method used in this study is library research, which is accessed through library and internet. In this paper the writer only concerns in classroom activities in term of information-gap activities. The study showed that using information-gap activities can create students' interaction with another student and teacher and to develop the students' speaking skills. When they were practicing in pair work or group work, all of them participated. Besides, each student has equal opportunity to speak or practice the language. Previous research conducted by Lam Son (2009) also found that the students are highly motivated and pleased to learn the language in many aspects of language. Readings obtained are processed and described in a qualitative manner. This study is expected to be useful for other English teachers.
