This study was conducted in order to find out the kind of figurative language in hikayat Aceh. Hikayat, a literary genre that is classified into the old poem, consists of detail information in every page which presents all the complicating facts that need to be taken into account before a reader can reach any sort of judgment. Figurative language is a figure of speech that provides new ways of looking at the world is mostly used by the authors to make their literary works more interesting and entertaining for the readers in this research, the writer is interested in studying figurative language in some Acehnese hikayat. The title of this thesis is The Analysis of Figurative Language in Hikayat Aceh. There are three hikayat that became the analysis study this research; they are hikayat Prang Aceh, written by Mujar MS, Indra Nur Alam, written by Tgk. Abd. Gani Ali, and Hasan Husen, written by Medya Hus. This study was conducted by using the textual approach to analyze verses of those hikayat.The population of the study is the three hikayat which have been mentioned above. The sample was taken from verses in every page of hikayat which was discussed. The sample which was taken from hikayat Prang Aceh are on the page 4, 5, 6, 8, 11, 16 17, 22, and 25 from the total of 27 pages. In the hikayat Indra Nur Alam, the sample is taken on the page 21, 30, 31, 33, 35, 40, 70, and 74 from the total of 75 pages. And the last, in the hikayat Hasan Husen, the sample is taken on the page 6, 16, 18, 20, 24, 30, 34, 42, 44, 47, and 49 from the total 49 pages. To adjust the method with the purpose of this study some procedures have been done. First procedure was determining figurative language occurred in verses on each page by seeing kinds of figurative language in each verse. And the final step was quoting and classifying all verses presented certain figurative language into different categories based on kind of figures of speech. After applying those steps it was found that Hikayat Prang Aceh reveals several kinds of figurative language. They were hyperbole, apostrophe, personification, simile, and onomatopoeia. Hikayat Indra Nur Alam also reveals several kinds of figurative language. They were hyperbole, onomatopoeia, and personification.
