 <note>English  for specific  purpose  (ESP)  is  language  teaching  designed  to meet specific needs of people studying or working  in specific field. ESP is an approach which into account the students' needs in learning English. ESP has been applied at Fakultas Kesehatan Masyarakat (FKM) University of Muhammadiyah Banda Aceh.&#13;
The availability of relevant teaching materials and the lecturer knowledge of ESP are crucial  elements  for success  of ESP  teaching  at  most  vocational  school applying ESP based teaching program.&#13;
A  study   related   to  the  above   matter   was  conducted   at  FKM.   A  set questionnaire consisting of 10 questions was handed out to 25 students as the sample of the study.  In order  to  find more  information  also was distributed  other  set of questionnaire to the lecturers.&#13;
The  result  of the  study  shows  that  16  students  (64%)  stated  the teaching&#13;
materials  given  by their  lecturers  ware  relevant  with  their  field  of study  (public&#13;
health).   All  lecturers  (100%)   confirmed  that  they  had  sufficient  knowledge   in&#13;
teaching ESP.&#13;
