 <note>The purpose  of this study is to look at some given theories  and/ research findings  on the use of  Communicative  Language Teaching  for speaking skill. The discussion  of the approach  is focused  on particular  technique  under the communicative approach, namely  &quot;Role  play.  The  study  finds that  using  role  play  can  improve  learners' speaking  skill  and  help  learners to  interact  each  other.  Each  student  has  the  same opportunity   to  speak  or  practices  the  language  learning  are  highly  motivated  and pleased   to   learn  the   language  in  many   aspects   such   as  vocabulary,   grammar, speaking.  The  method  used  in this  study  is library  research.  Reading  obtained  are processed  and  described  in  a descriptive  way.  Based  on  the  research  findings  and experts' statements,  it is found that role play is effective  in developing  speaking skill. This study is expected to be useful for other English teachers and learners.&#13;
