This study is aimed at finding out whether through the use of picture stories in testing listening for narrative text students can get higher score compare to written test. The writer hypothesized that students can attain better score in comprehending narrative text through the use of picture story. The population of this study was the second grade students of SMAN I Ingin Jaya, Great Aceh.
There are six classes for the second year. The sample of study was class XI IA 1
(science class) which involved 30 students .. The instrument used was test which consisted of five picture story arrangements that was taken from five narrative texts. This study took four meetings in conducting research. The result of the test
presented that the mean score of picture story arrangement (x=27.03) was higher that written test format (x ,= 21.5). This was proven by the t-score result. The t-score was 9 .167, referred to the ttable at level significance a = O, OS with the degree of freedom (df) 58 the result was higher than the t-table, in consequently the alternative hypothesis that stating "students can attain better score in comprehending narrative text through the use of picture story" is accepted. It is hoped that this finding can widen teachers outlook about the use of picture story in testing listening.
