Title : he Use of Direct Method to Improve Senior High School Student in Listening.

This study is entitled The Use of Direct Method to Improve Senior High School Student in Listening. Listening is the process to respond what a speaker says. However, understanding what a teacher says is difficult for students so that the teacher should prepare a suitable strategy in teaching listening to make the students understand what they are listening. Direct Method is a strategy in the teaching process of second language in facilitating the students to understand a target Language by listening to it in extensively and this method is taught by using gesture, action and showing an object to get a meaning. This research was conducted to find out whether Direct Method is able to improve students' listening in comprehending a text. To obtain the data, the writer conducted library research through book, journal, article, and the previous research. Based on those source references, the writer concludes that Direct Method is a good strategy in teaching listening. Therefore, Direct Method could be one of the alternative strategies that the teacher must consider in teaching listening.
