The  principal   objective   of  this  paper   is to  demonstrate    the  capability   of  skimming technique   to  improve   students'   ability   in reading   comprehension.    The  objective   of this  study  is to  discover   how  the  use  of  skimming   can  improve   students'   ability   in comprehending    the  text,  also  to explain   the use of  skimming   related  to the  previous research  that  has already  been  conducted.   The  scope  this  study  is limited  in how  the usc  of  skimming    technique   can  improve   students'    reading   comprehension    ability. The  method  used  in this study  is library  research.   Most  of the sources  and  references that  the writer  used  in this  research  come  from  books, journals,   articles  and  also  the source    from   all   over   the   internet   contents.    Based   on   this   study,   it  found   that skimming   is very  useful  in many  instances,   mostly  students   who  has  limited  of time in  comprehending     reading   text.  Through   skimming,    main   idea  and  detail   will  be&#13;
easily  found  by  the students   in a quite  short  time.  Eliminating   unimportant   detail  in&#13;
&#13;
skimming   helps  students  comprehend   the text  without  wasting  too  much  time,  but it is necessary   to  look  up  for  the  keywords   first.  General  topic  can  be  found  over  the material.  also  without  reading  all sentences   of the text.  According   to the  finding,  the use  of  skimming   can  improve   students'    ability   in comprehending    the  reading   text. Teachers   need to consider  the use of skimming   in the classroom   reading  session.&#13;
