This study is aimed at discovering the factors influencing English achievement both internal and external factors. The research questions are (I) what factors are influencing the better achievement of English subject of the "kelas unggul" students at SMP Negeri I Banda Aceh?, (2) what is the internal factor?, and (3) what are the external factors? The study employs descriptive qualitative. The sample was thirty students at "Kelas Unggul" and at Regular Class as a control cLass. The instrument was questionnaire for the sample students and for the teachers teaching English in the sample class to support the student answers. Students' questionnaire consists of 20 statements and the teachers' questionnaire 12 statements. The copies of the student academic reports are also needed to supplement the previous data The collected data were analyzed by using percentage formula, The finding shows that the internal factor influencing better achievement of English subject of the "kelas unggul" students is motivation, and the external factors are more time spent on learning English, English learning activity, facility, reinforcement, teaching method, grouping by sex, and quality improvement of teaching and learning. 0 ELECTRONIC THESES AND DISSERTATION Universitas Syiah Kuala 95338 2021-11-18 10:59:52 2021-11-18 10:59:52 machine generated
