Although  English  is a  subject  that  should  be learned  by  the students  in school, students still find some difficulties especially  in reading comprehension. There are three problems that influence students'  reading comprehension. The first is students' vocabulary development, the second is students'  sentence construction, and the third is students'  background knowledge.  One of the ways which can solve them is by using context clues technique. The objective of this study is to analyze deeply some related theories and/or research findings on how context clues technique can solve student's  problem in reading comprehension. To find the data needed. the writer did a  library research. Based on the data, it proved that context clues can solve students' problem in comprehending a text. The students guess words and sentences'  meaning based on the context. Then, they also use their background knowledge in getting the whole  text'   ideas. Teacher  uses context  clues  technique  to  reduce  the  student's dependence in asking to others and using dictionary because it could waste time. In other  words,  using  context  clues  technique  has  been  proven  as  a  better  way  in teaching reading comprehension.&#13;
