Islamic Boarding Senior High School Students on the Second Grade in Banda Aceh)

This is a comparative study on the second grade students of General Public and Private Islamic Boarding Senior High School in Banda Aceh. The samples in this study are the second grade students of SMAN 8, SMAN 12, SMA Inshafuddin, and MAS Darul Ulum. After calculating the data by using T- score formula, it is obtained that T- count is 2,77. While T- table score for 96 degree of freedom in the level of
0,05 is 1,98. It showed that T -count is bigger than T - table. It means that there is a
significant different between General Public and Private Islamic Boarding Senior High School students' performance in reacting skills. Then General Public students have difficulties in details and vocabulary which index of difficulty percentage is
25%. The easiest reading skill for them is main idea which index of difficulty percentage is 18%. In contrast, Private Islamic Boarding Senior High School students have difficulty in detail which index of difficulty percentage is 37%. The easiest skill for them is vocabulary which index of difficulty is 25%. Based on the research result, there are three factors that influence students' performance in reading. Those are language attitude, motivation, and intelligency.
