This thesis is under the title "The Use of Story Reading in Vocabulary Test" Story is one of media that can be used in leaching vocabulary to young learners. This thesis is aimed at finding out whether story reading effects and improves young learners' vocabulary. To obtain the data for this thesis. the writer conducted a case study at MIN Banda Aceh. The students of grade six were taken as the object of this study. The writer took one class randomly. then gave two lest to the same students which were conducted in different time. The first test was without story reading. while the second one was using story reading. The result of the test showed that the mean scores of test by using story reading is 66 and the test without using story reading is 90, and the result of Z-score showed 19,32 and Z-table 1,99. This indicates that the result of the test without using story reading is better than the test b~ using story reading. This research concluded that story reading does not give influence on the ability of young learners in mastering vocabulary.
