This study attempts to find out whether there is a different achievement between science and social students in comprehending reading skill, also to find out which skill is the most difficult and easiest for both programs, and to find out the factors influence reading. This study employs a comparative study design followed by the used of descriptive quantitative method. The sample of this study was the 2" grade students of 3 senior high schools in Banda Aceh (SMAN 5, SMAN 8, and SMAN 12). The instruments used were test and questionnaire. The test consists of 24 multiple choice questions and the questionnaire consists of 10 multiple choice questions. The result is analyzed by using mean score, variance, standard deviation, and t score. The value of t score is 3,15 higher than decision criterion for P 1,64). This shows different achievement from both programs. The most difficult skill for science and social students is identify main idea (4,26% and 6,63%), while the easiest skill for science students is vocabulary (1,9%) and for social students is detail (4%). From the research result, there are three factors influence students in reading, those are language attitude, intelligent, and motivation.
