 <note>Speaking  is important  as a tool  of communication, meanwhile,  game considered  as a good  technique  to  improve  the  students'  ability  in speaking.   The  problem  of this study is can  the  use  of card  games  increase  the  students'  ability  in  speaking?  The purpose  of this  study  is to  see  whether   using  card games  can  increase  students' speaking  skill or not. The method  used was quantitative method  called  experimental study  in nature.  It consisted  of pre test and  post test. The  population was all of the second   year   students   at   SMAN 1       Blang Pidie,   meanwhile    the   samples   were particularly   class   XI  IPA.  The   tests   were  used   oral   questions.   The   statistical procedure  was used  to analyze  the data.   The  result of the test  found that  there  was&#13;
significant  different of the students' ability  speaking  skill between  pre-test  and post• test after teaching  by using card games. To prove the hypothesis,  t-score  formula was used.  Based  on data  analysis  t-score  is 2.39,  meanwhile  t-table  is 2.00.  It means  t• score  is higher  than  t-table,  therefore  the alternative  hyphotheses (Ha) was accepted and  the  null hyphotheses (Ho)  was  rejected.  The  writer concluded  that  using  card game  in  teaching   speaking   has some  strengths,   they  are  improving   the  students' ability of speaking  and creating  more enjoyable learning process.&#13;
