PENANGANAN PEDET PASCA LAHIR PADA SAPI SIMENTAL DI BPTU-HPT PADANG MENGATAS SUMATERA BARAT

ABSTRAK

Tujuan Tugas Akhir ini adalah untuk mengetahui penanganan pedet pasca lahir pada sapi simental di BPTU-HPT Padang Mengatas, Kabupaten Lima Kota Sumatera Barat. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dari tanggal 10 Februari – 10 Juni 2021. Penanganan pedet yang baru lahir di BPTU-HPT Padang Mengatas dilakukan dengan cara mempersiapkan kandang kelahiran semenjak awal kebuntingan pada indukan dan setelah pedet lahir, dilakukan pembersihan lendir pada pedet dengan menggunakan handuk yang bersih. Bagian utama yang harus dibersihkan dari lendir yaitu pada bagian hidung pedet, bertujuan supaya lendir tidak terhisap oleh pedet dan mengakibatkan pedet susah untuk bernafas, selanjutnya dilakukan pemotongan tali pusar dan pemberian yodium tincture pada pusar pedet agar tidak tejadinya myiasis pada pusar pedet, setelah itu, dilanjutkan dengan mengajarkan pedet mengenali puting induknya agar pedet bisa menyusu dan mendapatkan kolostrum sebagai antibodi untuk pedet. Pada saat indukan pedet tidak dapat menghasilkan kolostrum pedet dapat diberikan kolostrum buatan yang terdiri dari campuran ½ liter susu murni + 1 sendok teh minyak ikan + 1 sendok teh kastroli + 1 telur yang dikocok didalam ¼ liter air hangat. Pemberian kolostrum buatan diberikan 3 kali sehari selama 3 sampai dengan 4 hari. Pedet yang mengalami cacingan pada saat baru lahir cara mengatasinya yaitu dilakukan pemberian obat cacing (Wormzol-B) kepada indukan dan pedet.

At a time, when the cow cannot produce colostrum,the calf can be given artificial colostrum consisting of a mixture of ½ litres of pure milk + 1 spoon of fish oil + 1 spoon of castroli tea + 1 egg that is cooked in ¼ litres of warm water. Manufactured colostrum is given three times a day for three to four days.
