The objective of this study is to look at some given theories and/or research findings on the use of Cooperative Leaming to increase student's  motivation. The teachers use this technique to improve student's reading skill. The discussion of the approach is  focused on a particular technique of Cooperative Leaming,  namely Numbered Heads Together  (NHT).  The  problem  of this  research  is  the  students are  not motivated in reading skill and the technique used by the teacher.  This study shows that the use of NHT technique can increasingly  motivate in  reading skill and the teacher use this technique to improve students'  reading. The method of this study is library research. Based on some experts' statements and research findings, it is found that Numbered Heads Together Technique is effective and efficient to improve the students'  reading and to increase students'  motivation  in reading. The writer hoped this study will be useful for other English teachers who wish to apply the technique.&#13;
