IDENTIFIKASI PARASIT GASTROINTESTINAL PADA
KUDA (Equus caballus) DI KABUPATEN
ACEH TENGGARA

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi parasit gastrointestinal yang menginfeksi kuda (Equus caballus) di Kabupaten Aceh Tenggara. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel feses kuda yang diambil dari 82 ekor kuda berasal dari lima Kecamatan di Kabupaten Aceh Tenggara yaitu Kecamatan Babussalam, Badar, Bambel, Lawe Alas, dan Lawe Bulan. Sampel feses diambil sesaat setelah keluar dari rektum dan jatuh ke tanah, kemudian dimasukkan ke dalam plastik ziploc. Sampel feses dibawa menggunakan icebox yang di dalamnya berisi ice packs ke Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Universitas Syiah Kuala untuk diperiksa dengan menggunakan metode apung, McMaster, sedimentasi modifikasi Borray, pewarnaan modifikasi tahan asam (modified Ziehl Neelsen), dan formol-eter. Identifikasi telur, ookista dan kista dilakukan berdasarkan morfologinya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kuda (Equus caballus) di Kabupaten Aceh Tenggara terinfeksi oleh jenis cacing Strongylus spp., Strongyloides westeri, Trichostrongylus sp., dan Parascaris equorum serta jenis protozoa yaitu Cryptosporidium spp., Eimeria spp. dan Entamoeba spp.

IDENTIFICATION OF GASTROINTESTINAL PARASITES IN
HORSES (Equus caballus) IN SOUTHEAST
ACEH REGENCY

ABSTRACT
This study aims to identify gastrointestinal parasites that infect horses (Equus caballus) in Southeast Aceh Regency. This study used horse fecal samples taken from 82 horses from five districts in Southeast Aceh Regency, namely Babussalam, Badar, Bambel, Lawe Alas, and Lawe Bulan Districts. The fecal samples are taken shortly after it coming out from rectum and fall to the ground, then put into ziploc plastic. The fecal samples transported using ice boxes filled with ice packs to the Laboratory of Parasitology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Syiah Kuala for examination using flotation, McMaster, Borray modified sedimentation, acid-fast modified staining (modified Ziehl Neelsen), and formol-ether methods. Identification of eggs, oocysts and cysts is carried out based on its morphology. The results showed that horses (Equus caballus) in Southeast Aceh District were infected by Strongylus spp., Strongyloides westeri, Trichostrongylus sp., and Parascaris equorum of nematodes and the types of protozoa namely Cryptosporidium spp., Eimeria spp. and Entamoeba spp.
