This  study is aimed  at elaborating and discussing  the use of cooperative  learning through jigsaw  in  teaching  reading particularly  concerned  with narrative text.  In many cases, most second  grade  students  of junior high  school  are  struggJing  in comprehending the  text genre  as a result  of inappropriate  teaching method   that  makes  reading  activities   are generally  more difficult  and boring  for them.  Therefore, a cooperative instruction,such as jigsaw,  is proposed  to encourage each student  to take  part  in reading  activity.  The study is conducted by means of library research.  Reviews  of the study focus on the entire literature  which  includes  educational research  and  related  theories  that  provide  strong advocacy  for jigsaw   application. The study also  proposed   a  umber of recommendations and a lesson plan demonstration when using jigsaw technique in reading skill. The  conclusion  drawn  from  this  study  is  teaching  reading  narrative  text  through jigsaw technique  is a successful  way to promote student's achievement, participation as well  as  a  useful  technique  for  struggle   readers   to  accomplish  learning  tasks  in  the classroom.&#13;
