 <note>ABSTRAK&#13;
Peningkatan populasi dapat tercapai dengan keberhasilan program&#13;
breeding, maka pengetahuan dasar tentang teknik deteksi estrus pada kuda sangat&#13;
dibutuhkan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui onset, durasi,&#13;
gejala dan frekuensi gejala estrus pada kuda gayo setelah sinkronisasi&#13;
menggunakan PGF2? secara intra muskulus. Penelitian ini menggunakan 3 ekor&#13;
kuda gayo betina yang sehat secara reproduksi. Dilakukan sinkronisasi estrus&#13;
menggunakan injeksi ganda PGF2? (7,5 mg/ekor secara intra muskulus) dengan&#13;
interval waktu 10 hari. Pasca sinkronisasi dilakukan pengamatan onset, durasi,&#13;
gejala dan frekuensi gejala estrus. Data yang diperoleh dideskripsikan dalam&#13;
bentuk tabel. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa rataan onset estrus adalah 26,33 ±&#13;
12,34 jam (kisaran 16-40 jam) dan rataan durasi estrus 5,67 ± 0,58 hari (kisaran 5- 6 hari). Gejala estrus pada kuda gayo betina adalah tertarik terhadap pejantan,&#13;
mengangkat ekor, windked vulva, urinasi dan squating. Hasil pemeriksaan&#13;
terhadap frekuensi gejala mengangkat ekor pada skor 2, 3, dan 4 berturut-turut&#13;
adalah: 6,00±1,73; 14,33±8,50; 11,33±4,04 kali. Frekuensi gejala windked vulva&#13;
pada skor 2, 3, dan 4 adalah 47,33±11,93; 344,00±130,55; 515,33±242,52 kali.&#13;
Frekuensi gejala urinasi dan squating pada skor 3 yaitu 5,00±2,65 kali dan&#13;
3,33±1,53 kali. Frekuensi gejala urinasi berkelanjutan dan squating pada skor 4&#13;
yaitu 4,33±2,52 kali dan 11,33±7,09 kali. Kesimpulanya adalah sinkronisasi&#13;
menggunakan PGF2? dapat menyebabkan timbulnya gejala estrus pada kuda gayo.&#13;
Onset estrus pasca sinkronisasi dengan PGF2? pada kuda gayo adalah 16-40 jam&#13;
dan durasi estrus 5-6 hari. Peningkatan frekuensi gejala winked vulva dan&#13;
squatting kemungkinan dapat dijadikan acuan waktu kawin yang tepat pada kuda&#13;
gayo.&#13;

ABSTRACT&#13;
Population increase can be achieved with successful breeding programs,&#13;
and basic knowledge of estrus detection techniques in horses is much needed. The&#13;
purpose of this study was to determine the onset, duration, sign and frequency of&#13;
estrus sign in gayo mare after synchronization using PGF2? intramuscularly. This&#13;
study used 3 reproductively healthy gayo mare. Synchronization of estrus using a&#13;
double injection of PGF2? (7.5 mg/head intramuscularly) with an interval of 10&#13;
days. Post-observation, the duration, sign and frequency of estrus sign were&#13;
observed. The data obtained are described in tabular form. The results showed that&#13;
the mean onset of estrus was 26,33 ± 12,34 hours (range 16-40 hours) and the&#13;
average duration of estrus was 5,67 ± 0,58 days (range 5-6 days). Sign of estrus in&#13;
gayo mare are attracted to the male, lifting the tail, twisting the vulva, urinating&#13;
and squatting. The results of the examination of the sign of lifting the tail at scores&#13;
of 2, 3, and 4 respectively were: 6,00 ±1,73; 14,33±8,50; 11,33±4,04 times. The&#13;
frequency of windked vulvar sign on scores 2, 3, and 4 was 47,33 ± 11,93;&#13;
344,00±130,55; 515,33±242,52 times. The frequency of sign of urination and&#13;
squatting on a score of 3 was 5,00 ±2,65 times and 3,33±1,53 times. The&#13;
frequency of sign of continuous urination and squatting on a score of 4 was&#13;
4,33±2,52 times and 11,33±7,09 times. The conclusion is that using PGF2? can&#13;
cause estrus sign in gayo mare. The onset of post-synchronized estrus with PGF2?&#13;
in gayo mare is 16-40 hours and the duration of estrus is 5-6 days. The increase in&#13;
the frequency of vulvar and squatting sign may be used as a reference for the right&#13;
mating time in gayo mare.&#13;
