This study is aimed at finding out whether English songs strategy can increase students' ability in pronouncing English words of junior high school students. The study is an experimental study. The hypotheses of this study are (I) the instruction through English songs can improve the student's pronunciation (Ha). (2) The instruction through English songs cannot improve the student's pronunciation (Ho). The population of this study is the second year students of SMP Negeri 9 Banda Aceh. There are three classes for the second year that named 2', 2, and 2'. As the sample, the researcher took two classes, 2' and 2. 2' was a control class and 2 was an experimental class. The total number of the sample was 60 students. The instrum ent that is used for pre-test and post-test was oral test. The test consisted of three songs; Yesterday (The Beatles), You Raise Me Up (Josh Groban), and I Have a dream (Westlife). There were five meetings in this research. Here, some formulas that are suggested by Arikunto (2006) were used to analyze the data. The result of the test from the using of the songs in experimentaJ class showed that the students' ability in mastering pronunciation increased which was proved by the t-score result. The t• score was 3.641, referred to the t-table at level significance 0.05% with the degree of freedom (dn) 58 the result was higher than the t-table, so the alternative hypothesis that stated using songs can increase students' ability in pronunciation students was accepted.
