ABSTRAK
Belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) merupakan tumbuhan yang memiliki potensi
sebagai antibakteri. Senyawa antibakteri yang terdapat dalam belimbing wuluh diduga
berperan sebagai antijerawat. Masker gel peel off merupakan salah satu bentuk sediaan
kosmetika topikal yang praktis dapat menjaga kelembaban alami dari kulit. Penelitian
yang bertujuan untuk membuat formulasi sediaan masker gel peel off dari ekstrak
etanol buah belimbing wuluh dan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi polivinil alkohol
(PVA) yang memberikan hasil evaluasi yang terbaik. Konsentrasi PVA yang
digunakan di dalam formula adalah 10%(F1), 12%(F2) dan 14%(F3). Ketiga formulasi
menghasilkan gel yang berwarna coklat muda dengan aroma khas dari buah belimbing
wuluh dan mengalami perubahan warna menjadi coklat muda yang sedikit pudar
setelah dilakukan cycling test. Formulasi F1 tidak memenuhi evaluasi uji daya sebar
dan uji daya lekat. F2 dan F3 memenuhi semua kriteria evaluasi. Hasil evaluasi sifat
mekanik menunjukkan bahwa F3 memiliki nilai paling baik karena kekuatan tarik dan
elongasi yang dihasilkan oleh lapisan film tidak mudah putus. Hasil uji untuk seluruh
formula tidak adanya tanda-tanda iritasi. Hasil uji kesukaan menunjukkan F1, F2 dan
F3 disukai untuk parameter bentuk dan warna sedangkan untuk parameter aroma
sediaan hanya cukup suka hal ini dikarenakan tidak adanya penambahan aroma pada
sediaan masker gel peel off. Berdasarkan keseluruhan hasil evaluasi yang dihasilkan
maka F3 merupakan formulasi dengan hasil evaluasi yang terbaik.

ABSTRACT
Averrhoa bilimbi L. is a plant that has strong antibacterial potential. The antibacterial
compounds contained in averrhoa bilimbi are thought to act as antiacne. The peel off
gel mask is one of the cosmetics forms easy to be used and keep the natural moisture
of the skin. The peel off gel mask from bilimbi fruits ethanolic extract was formulated
using 3 variation of PVA concentrations to obtained the best preparation. The PVA
concentration used is 10% (F1),12% (F2) and, 14% (F3). All formulations produced
a gel that was light brown in color with a distinctive odor from starfruit and had a
light brown color change which was slightly faded after a cycling test. F1 has not met
qualification for spreadibility test and stickiness test, F2 and F3 has qualified for all
evaluation test. The results of of mechanical properties showed thats F3 has the best
values on tensile strength and elongation in which the film was not easily broken off.
The results of irritation test showed that all formulas did not cause signs of irritation.
The result of hedonic test showed that F1, F2 and F3 were preferred for shape and
color parameters, while for the odor parameters of the preparation, they only liked it
because there was no added flavor to the gel peel off mask preparation. Based on the
overall results of the resulting evaluation F3 the formulations with the best evaluation
results.
