ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini berjudul “Analisis Semiotika Pesan Sosial Dalam Mural di Kota Banda Aceh (Mural Karya Komunitas Kanot Bu di Jalan Stadion Haji Dimurthala)”, berfokus pada meneliti makna pesan sosial yang terkandung dalam mural Komunitas Kanot Bu di Jalan Stadion Haji Dimurthala, baik secara verbal maupun non-verbal. Mural yang acapkali disebut sebagai sampah visual, namun pada realitasnya sudah tak jarang dijadikan sebagai media alternatif penyampaian pesan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan makna pesan sosial berdasarkan semiotika komunikasi pada mural Komunitas Kanot Bu. Sifat dari penelitian ini sendiri adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Unit analisis yang diteliti adalah gambar, tulisan dan warna yang terdapat pada keseluruhan mural Komunitas Kanot Bu tersebut. Metode yang dipakai adalah metode analisis semiotika dari Charles Sanders Pierce, yang memaknai tanda (sign), objek (object) dan interpretant. Peneliti melihat bahwa mural Komunitas Kanot Bu di Jalan Stadion Haji Dimurthala ini terdapat pesan melalui simbol dan tanda. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dan interpretasi peneliti, simbolisasi atas tanda-tanda dalam mural ini berisi pesan kritik sosial. Pesan tersebut berupa larangan, himbauan, dan ajakan yang ditujukan kepada masyarakat untuk tidak menyebarkan maupun terpengaruh berita palsu yang kerap ditemukan pada masa pemilu 2019, tetap menjaga integritas, memiliki daya pikir kritis, bijaksana dalam bermedia, ikut andil dalam menyukseskan pemilu damai, ajakan untuk tidak golput (golongan putih) serta pendidikan pemilu bagi generasi awal. ABSTRACT: This research entitled "Analysis of the Semiotics of Social Messages in Murals in Banda Aceh City (Mural by the Kanot Bu Community on Jalan Haji Dimurthala Stadium)", focuses on examining the meaning of social messages contained in the murals of the Kanot Bu Community on Jalan Haji Dimurthala Stadium, both verbally as well as non-verbally. Murals are often referred to as visual trash, but in reality, they are often used as alternative media for delivering messages. The purpose of this research is to explain the meaning of social messages based on the semiotics of communication on the murals of the Kanot Bu Community. The nature of this research itself is descriptive qualitative. The unit of analysis under research is the image, text and colors found in the entire mural of the Kanot Bu Community. The method used is the semiotic analysis method of Charles Sanders Pierce, which defines the sign (sign), object (object) and interpretant. The researcher saw that the mural of the Kanot Bu Community on Jalan Haji Dimurthala Stadium contained messages through symbols and signs. Based on the results of the researcher's analysis and interpretation, the symbolization of the signs in this mural contains a critical message social. The messages are in the form of prohibitions, appeals, and invitations aimed at the public not to spread or be influenced by fake news that is often found during the 2019 election, while maintaining integrity, having critical thinking power, being wise in media, taking part in the success of a peaceful election, an invitation to not “golput” (abstainer) and election education for the early generations.
