The process of writing of this minor thesis is aimed to handle the exsisted problem exsisted in teaching and learning English, especially in teaching reading comprehension. The writer suggested the use of STAD modeled-cooperative learning to improve students' ability in reading comprehension. This study is purposed to show the readers how STAD modeled-cooperative learning can improve students' ability in reading comprehension. All sources of this study were taken from library study and accessed from world wide web (internet) in the form
of books, articles, journals, etc, both online or offline. The method used in this
research was library study. The research found that using STAD modelled• cooperative learning is a type of cooperative learning that overcome problems persisted in the classroom. Using STAD modelled-cooperative learning proved
that students can rely on the team mate if they have difficulities in learning, because the natural of cooperative learning is to work cooperatively in the group. So. any difficulty and problem can be solved in team. In reading especially, comprehending the text in group will be more easy than individually. Al last the use of STAD modeled-cooperative learning can increase students ability in reading comprehension. Finally, the researcher suggests that the use of STAD modelled-cooperative learning can be considered as the regular technique used in teaching reading comprehension.
