Abstract Name : Cut Ervida Diana Student No. : 0906102050026 Study Program : English Education Title : Teaching Speaking by Using Cooperative Learning through Snowball Throwing Keyword: speaking, cooperative learning, snowball throwing. Snowball throwing is an effective technique of cooperative learning to improve speaking skill. Using snowball throwing in teaching speaking is very effective to encourage students to be active in learning and speaking participation in the classroom. The purpose of this study is to explore the use of cooperative learning through snowball throwing. The research is aimed at some given theories and research findings on the use of cooperative learning through snowball throwing in teaching speaking. The discussion is focused on a certain activity on the snowball throwing technique. The method used in this study is library research. The study found that using the snowball throwing technique can improve the students’ performance in speaking because some good steps was offered to improve students’ speaking performance. It has some systematic steps that bring students to have better comprehension and performance in speaking. Students also have equal opportunity to participate and practice the language. Speaking has communicative aim that should be obtained. In short, teaching speaking by using cooperative learning through snowball throwing is effective to enhance students’ speaking skill. It supports to learn and overcome the problem in speaking.
