 <note>This  study  entitled  Teaching Analytical  Exposition  through Modeling  Technique  is intended to figure out whether modeling technique  improves students'  ability  in writing analytical  essay. This study used experimental  quantitative  method.  The population  of this study was the second grade students of SMA 5  Darussalam. Random  sampling was used  to  determine  sample  for  this  study.  Theey  are;  Experimental  Group  (EG)  and Control  Group (CG). To collect the data, both of the groups were given the pre and post tests.  The  result  of the  test  was  analyzed  by  using  the  t-tests.  It  was  used  to  know whether there was a significant difference  of the scores between the  two groups.  With a 0.05  and degree  of freedom  38,  it was found  that  EG gave (27.75)  in  pre test and (32.15) in post test. Whereas, CG gave (19.85) for pre test and (34.05) in the post test. It means that  in  the pre  test experimental  group  had  a better  score  than  that  in  control group but in post test control  group had better score of experimental  group.  Based on the result, the null hypothesis  is accepted  in  that there is no significant difference  between modeling  technique  and  traditional  method  in  teaching  writing.  However,  this  study yielded  small  contribution  in  the  particular  components  of writing  like  organization, ideas  development,  mechanics  and  grammar  to  the  students  of SMA  5   Darussalam, Banda  Aceh.  Finally,  because  this  research  does  not  reach  a  conclusive summary,therefore,    the  researcher  hopes  that  the  reader  will  be interested  in  doing further research related to this problem.&#13;
