ZAINOEL ABIDIN BANDA ACEH 2013 ABSTRAK One of the deadly diseases for women is breast cancer. Breast cancer is a disease that can influence every aspect of human life and can cause physiological, psychological, and social problems. This condition can make women have anxiety, unless confidence, pessimistic and tend to influence the self-concept and interpersonal relationship with others. Stress management that are poorly can make a person having negative emotions. The negative emotions for a long time will be influence the desease process and delayed healing. This study aimed to find out a description of the self concept and stress management of breast cancer patients at hospitalization wards of general hospital dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh 2013. The method of this study was a descriptive explorative. The respondent selected by using total sampling in form of Likert scale with 30 respondent. Data collection using a questionnaire consisted of 39 question item. The results showed that a description of stress management and self-concept of breast cancer patients are in negative category consisting of 5 sub-variables such as: body image of the patient’s with negative category is 18 persons (60,0%), self ideal of the patient’s with negative category is 17 persons (56,7%), self esteem of the patient’s with positive category is 23 persons (76.7%), role performance of the patient’s with negative category is 19 persons (63.3%), and personal identity of the patient’s with negative category is 18 persons (60.0%). Expected to general hospital should be improve patient’s motivation and provide positive support about self concept and stress management so it can increase quality of life in breast cancer patients. ZAINOEL ABIDIN BANDA ACEH TAHUN 2013 ABSTRAK Salah satu penyakit yang berbahaya bagi kaum wanita adalah kanker payudara yang berujung pada kematian. Kanker payudara merupakan penyakit yang dapat mempengaruhi setiap aspek kehidupan manusia dan dapat menimbulkan masalah fisiologis, psikologis, dan sosial. Kondisi ini dapat membuat wanita mengalami kecemasan, kurang percaya diri, pesimis dan cenderung mempengaruhi konsep dirinya serta hubungan interpersonal dengan orang lain. Manajemen stres yang kurang baik juga bisa membuat seseorang mengalami emosi negatif. Emosi negatif tersebut dapat mempengaruhi proses penyakit dan memperlambat penyembuhan. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui gambaran konsep diri dan manajemen stres pada pasien kanker payudara di ruang rawat inap rumah sakit umum daerah dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh Tahun 2013. Metode penelitian adalah deskriptif eksploratif. Teknik pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini adalah total sampling dalam bentuk skala Likert dengan jumlah 30 responden. Pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan kuesioner yang terdiri dari 39 item pernyataan dengan metode wawancara. Metode analisis data dengan menggunakan analisis univariat. Penelitian dilakukan pada tanggal 30 Mei sampai 28 Juni 2013. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gambaran manajemen stres dan konsep diri pasien kanker payudara berada pada katagori negatif dengan deskripsi sebagai berikut: gambaran citra tubuh pasien dengan katagori negatif sebanyak 18 orang (60,0%), ideal diri pasien dengan katagori negatif sebanyak 17 orang (56,7%), harga diri pasien dengan katagori positif sebanyak 23 orang (76,7%), fungsi peran diri pasien dengan katagori negatif sebanyak 19 orang (63,3%), identitas diri pasien dengan katagori negatif sebanyak 18 orang (60,0%). Diharapkan kepada Rumah Sakit hendaknya meningkatkan motivasi serta memberikan dukungan yang positif tentang konsep diri dan manajemen stres sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas hidup pasien kanker payudara.
