This study aims at examining whether the use of group work activities techniques solve students’ problems in teaching speaking skill which is focused on expressing agreement and disagreement. Quantitative approach with experimental study of one group pretest-postest design was undertaken to overcome the problems faced by students in teaching speaking skill. The instrument used to collect the data in this study by means of the test in the form of oral test. The result of the test analyzed by using speaking criteria proposed by Brown (2004). In addition, some statistical formulate were also used to analyze the data. Thus, the writer found that the t-score of this study is higher than the score in the t-table (t>t_t). It means that the difference was significant and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null Hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. From the result of the study, the t-score is higher than critical value of t-table (t = 4.680>t_t=2.060 ). Here, it means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. From the results of the study revealed that group work solves students’ problem in speaking after this technique implemented. Indeed, group work can be one of alternative techniques used by the teacher in teaching English particularly teaching speaking in EFL class.
