This script is entitled "The application of Contextual Teaching and learning in writing (descriptive text) ".The objectives to find out whether Contextual Teaching and Leaming is effective in improving students' writing skill and to find out the potential problems perceived in the application of contextual teaching and learning. Writing is the important part of language learning process since writing is one of the ways to expressing the idea The writer found that during the teaching training at SMA lab school, some students have some difficulties in writing. They cannot coherence first sentence to the next sentence. To overcome the problems mentioned, the writer tries to discuss Contextual Teaching and Learning as an effective and innovative approach to improve the students' achievement in writing skill. Brown (200 l :334) states that writing is a process of putting ideas down on paper to transform thoughts into words, to sharpen main ideas, and to give them structure and coherent organization the writer use library research as the method in which all the materials are accessed through the library, website on the internet. and describe them in a qualitative manner.
