ZAINOEL ABIDIN GENERAL HOSPITAL OF BANDA ACEH IN 2013. ABSTRACT Cancer is the chronic disease that can makes fear, anxiety, and spiritual stress. Dependence on others care will lead to feelings of helplessness. Spiritual needs help patients and providers to adapt to changes caused by cancer so as to improve the quality of life of patients. The objective of this research was to determine the correlation of spiritual needs with quality of life of cancer patients at patient room of BLUD dr. Zainoel Abidin General Hospital of Banda Aceh in 2013. The research used a descriptive correlatife method with cross sectional study design. The sample were collected by using purposive sampling technique, amounting to 81 cancer patients. The method of data collection used interview by having questionnaire. Consisting of 20 statements whereas 26 questions are in likert scale. Data were analized by using chi square test. This research, it was found that there was correlation of spiritual needs (pvalue: 0,000) with quality of life of cancer patients, in which consists of the relationship with oneself (p-value: 0,000), the relationship with the nature (p-value: 0,000), the relationship with others (p-value: 0,000), the relationship with the divine (p-value: 0,000). It can be concluded that, there was correlation of spiritual needs with quality of life of cancer patients at patient room of BLUD dr. Zainoel Abidin General Hospital of Banda Aceh in 2013. Expected to healthcare, particularly nurses can provide spiritual needs optimally in order to improve the quality of life of patients.
