<note>This study aimed at revealing the difference in the ability of reading comprehension between the students of bilingual class and non-bilingual class at SLTP Negeri 6 Banda Aceh. This study employs a case study design. The hypotheses of this study are (1) there are no significant differences between bilingual students and non- bilingual students in reading comprehension (Ho). (2) There are significant differences between bilingual students and non-bilingual students in reading comprehension (Ho). The data were analyzed by using the descriptive quantitative technique and t-formula. The research population is the
2" grade students of SLTP Negeri 6 Banda Aceh. The samples of this study were bilingual students and non-bilingual students. Total of the sample was 58 students.
The data in this study were collected on December 16" and December 17, 2009.
The instrument used is test. The test consists of 4 text passages and each passage follows by 5 multiple choice questions. The data of test were analyzed by using t• formula to find out the t-score. The research result proved that t-score is 4.3 and the critical value of t-score is 1.673, the critical value of t-score is defined based on 56 degree of freedom on the level of significant 0.05. Because oft-score is higher that the critical value of t-score, Alternative hypothesis is accepted and Null hypothesis is rejected. It is clearly showed that bilingual class is better than no-bilingual class in reading achievement. It is also proved by the students' distribution answer in main idea, detail, vocabulary and inferring table. Bllingual students dominantly answer the questions with the correct answer
