Studi reaksi tentang citronellal dengan L-tyrosine untuk antimikroba dan antikanker telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui reaksi sintesis dua senyawa citronellal dan L-tyrosine terhadap aktivitas antimikroba Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, dan Candida albicans serta aktivitas terhadap antikanker pada sel kanker payudara MCF-7. Produk konjugasi yang diperoleh berupa padatan amorf berwarna kuning-putih. Puncak spektrum FT-IR di 3205,69 cm-1 menunjukkan bahwa NH dari L-tyrosine, sedangkan spektrum muncul pada 1460,11 - 1438,90 cm-1 menunjukkan C=N yang diturunkan dari imina atau imonium dari reaksi shift base antara citronellal dan L-tyrosine. Analisis GC-MS menunjukkan produk sintesis terdapat senyawa golongan monoterpen dan hasil isolat fraksi 2 terdapat senyawa fenolik, puncak 15 yang diamati pada RT 10,27 menit diharapkan merupakan produk konjugasi dengan m/z 316 [M+H]+ ion. Aktivitas antimikroba ditentukan dengan metode difusi agar sumuran dan produk hasil sintesis menunjukkan tidak ada aktivitas antimikroba pada pengujian konsentrasi 10 mg/mL dan 50 mg/mL. Aktivitas antikanker yang dilakukan terhadap sel kanker payudara MCF-7 menunjukkan adanya aktivitas antikanker yang cukup toksik.&#13;

The study of citronellal with L-tyrosine conjugation for antimicrobial and anticancer properties has been conducted. The aim of this study to determine the synthesis reaction between two compounds citronellal and L-tyrosine on antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli,  Candida albicans; and anticancer activity in MCF-7 breast cancer cells. The reaction product showed was characterized by TLC and IR spectrophotometry. The product was yellow-white solid amophous. The FT-IR spectra peak at 3205.69 cm-1 is represented the N-H stretching vibration, the presence of L-tyrosine, while the spectra appears at 1460.11 - 1438.90 cm-1 are represented the C=N which derive from imine or immonium from shift base reaction between citronellal and L-tyrosine. GC-MS analysis showed the synthesis product contained monoterpenoid compounds and the result of isolate fraction 2 there are phenolic compounds, a peak of 15 observed at RT 10.27 minutes is expected to be a conjugation product with m/z 316 [M+H]+ ions. The antimicrobial activity were determined by well diffution method and the results showed a moderate inhibition at concetration used. Anticancer activity performed on MCF-7 breast cancer cells showed toxic anticancer activity.&#13;
