 <note>ABSTRAK&#13;
Uji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak metanol daun gaharu (Aquilaria malaccensis) terhadap &#13;
pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli telah dilakukan &#13;
untuk mengetahui aktivitas ekstrak metanol daun gaharu dalam menghambat &#13;
pertumbuhan bakteri tersebut. Ekstrak dari sampel diperoleh melalui metode maserasi &#13;
dengan pelarut metanol. Simplisia daun gaharu mengandung kadar air sebesar 7,83%,&#13;
kadar abu total 5,64%, kadar sari larut air 17,5%, dan kadar sari larut etanol 29,17%. &#13;
Ekstrak metanol daun gaharu mengandung kadar air sebesar 12,83%, kadar abu total &#13;
4,77%, kadar sari larut air 28,33%, dan kadar sari larut etanol 44,17%. Hasil uji &#13;
fitokimia menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak mengandung senyawa alkaloid, saponin, tanin, &#13;
steroid, dan glikosida. Uji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak metanol sampel dilakukan &#13;
dengan menggunakan metode sumuran dengan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak yaitu 5; 10; &#13;
15; 20 dan 25%. Aktivitas antibakteri terhadap S. aureus pada ekstrak metanol daun &#13;
gaharu lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan aktivitas ekstrak metanol pada bakteri E. coli. &#13;
Aktivitas tertinggi ekstrak metanol daun gaharu terhadap S. aureus dan E. coli &#13;
diperoleh pada konsentrasi 25% dengan zona hambat masing-masing 12 mm dan 7,8&#13;
mm.&#13;

ABSTRACT&#13;
Antibacterial activity test of methanolic extract from agarwood leaves (Aquilaria &#13;
malaccensis) towards bacterial growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia &#13;
coli has been conducted to know the activity of metanolic extract from agarwood &#13;
leaves in inhibiting the growth of those bacterials. The extract of the samples were &#13;
obtained through maceration method by methanol as a solvent. Agarwood leaves &#13;
simplicial characterization contains water content of 7,83%, total ash content of &#13;
5,64%, water soluble extract content of 17,5%, and ethanol soluble extract content of &#13;
29,17%. Methanolic extract from agarwood leaves contains water content of &#13;
2812,83%, total ash content of 4,77%, water soluble extract content of 28,33%, and &#13;
ethanol soluble extract content of 44,17%. Phytochemical test showed that both of &#13;
extract contained alkaloid compounds, saponins, tannins, steroids, and glycosides. &#13;
Antibacterial activity test of methanolic extract from samples was conducted using a &#13;
well diffusion method with variation of extract concentrations of 5; 10; 15; 20 and &#13;
25%. Antibacterial activity towards bacterial of S. aureus at methanolic extract from &#13;
agarwood leaves is higher than activity of methanol extract towards bacterial of E. &#13;
coli. The highest activity of methanolic extract from agarwood leaves towards S.&#13;
aureus and E.coli were obtained at 25% concentration with inhibiting zone diameter &#13;
of 12 mm and 7,8 mm.&#13;
