<note>Abstract

RELATIONSHIP OF NEUTROPHIL LYMPHOCYTE RATIO WITH DEGREE OF ANXIETY BASED ON HOSPITAL ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION SCALE-ANXIETY IN CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE PATIENTS UNDERWENT HEMODIALYSIS

Background
The prevalence of anxiety in hemodialysis (HD) patients is 31% -51%. HD patient anxiety reduces quality of life and is associated with activation of cytokines as pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory. Neutrophil Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR) can be a good indicator of inflammation. No studies have yet investigated the association of increased NLR with the degree of anxiety in regular HD patients.

Objective
To determined the relationship between the NLR value and the degree of anxiety in patients undergoing regular hemodialysis and to know the NLR limit value in determining anxiety in CKD patients undergoing regular hemodialysis.

Methods
This study was an analytical study using a total sampling method with a cross sectional design to assess the relationship between NLR and the degree of anxiety in regular hemodialysis patients ? 6 months with a HADS-Anxiety score at dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh. The research was done in October 2020.

Results
There were 70 of 127 patients who underwent regular HD suffering from anxiety disorders. Based on the degree of anxiety, there were 57 people (44.9%) in the normal category, 36 people (28.3%) with mild anxiety, 29 people (22.8%) with moderate anxiety and 5 people (3.9%) with severe anxiety. There was a significant correlation between NLR and the degree of anxiety severity in regular HD patients (p</note>
