ABSTRAK
Pemberian ASI eksklusif selama 6 bulan pertama telah direkomendasikan oleh WHO untuk seluruh anak di dunia sebagai sumber utama dalam memenuhi kebutuhan nutrisi dan menyelamatkan kelangsungan hidup. Namun, setelah sekian tahun lamanya angka pemberian ASI eksklusif di Indonesia belum mencapai target yang telah ditetapkan pemerintah (hanya mencapai 33,6% dari 80% pada tahun 2010). Banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi ibu dalam pemberian ASI, seperti faktor sosial budaya, psikologis dan fisik ibu. Karakteristik dianggap dapat mempengaruhi ibu dalam pemberian ASI. Karakteristik tersebut terdiri dari usia, pendidikan, pekerjaan, pendapatan. Faktor pengetahuan juga salah satu hal yang dianggap bisa mempengaruhi perilaku termasuk pemberian ASI eksklusif. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana hubungan karakteristik dan pengetahuan ibu dengan pemberian ASI di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Lampisang Kabupaten Aceh Besar Tahun 2013. Desain penelitian bersifat deskripstif korelatif dan teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan proportional sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 78 sampel. Pengumpulan data dilaksanakan pada tanggal 24 Mei sampai 6 Juni 2013 menggunakan kuesioner dengan 24 pernyataan dalam skala Guttman. Analisa data dilakukan menggunakan uji chi-square. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara usia ibu (p-value = 0,015), pendidikan ibu (p-value = 0,000), pendapatan keluarga (p-value = 0,023), dan pengetahuan ibu (p-value = 0,024) dengan pemberian ASI. Tidak terdapat hubungan antara pekerjaan ibu (p-value = 0,559) dengan pemberian ASI. Diharapkan agar petugas pelayanan kesehatan dapat lebih giat memberikan penyuluhan tentang manfaat ASI eksklusif agar tertanam pemahaman yang baik pada ibu-ibu menyusui sehingga pemberian ASI eksklusif dapat diterima dari golongan sosial ekonomi manapun.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CHARACTERISTICS AND MATERNAL KNOWLEDGE WITH BREASTFEEDING PRACTICE IN DISTRICT CLINIC’S WORKING AREA AT LAMPISANG ACEH BESAR 2013
ABSTRACT
The practice of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months has been recommended by WHO to all children in the world as the main source in fulfilling nutrition need and ensuring viability. But after many years of exclusive breastfeeding practice in Indonesia, the target still has a long way to be achieved (only carves out 33,6 % of 80% target in 2010). There are a lot of factors that influence mothers in providing breastfeeding such as socio-cultural, psychological, and mother’s physical condition. The characteristics considered to affect mother on giving breastfeeding are age, education, occupation, and income. Knowledge is also considered to be one of the factors that can affect behavior, including exclusive breastfeeding. The purpose of this study is to determine how the relationship between characteristics and knowledge of breastfeeding mothers in district clinic’s working area at lampisang, Aceh Besar in 2013. The research design is descriptive correlative. The sampling technique uses proportional sampling with a sample size of 78 samples. The data collection took place on May 24 through June 6, 2013 using a questionnaire with 24 statements in The Guttman scale. The data analysis was done using chi-square test. The result showed that there is a relationship between maternal age (p-value = 0.015), maternal education (p-value = 0.000), family income (p-value = 0.023), and maternal knowledge (p-value = 0.024) with the provision of breastfeeding. There is no relationship between maternal employment (p-value = 0.0559) with breastfeeding practice. It is recommended that health care workers be more incentive to provide education about the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding in order to embed a good attitude in lactating mothers so that exclusive breastfeeding can be accepted in any socio-economic groups.
