Title : Using Jigsaw in Teaching Writing Descriptive Text
for Junior High School Students
This method of this study is library research. The objective of this study is to show
how jigsaw helps students in generating their ideas in writing descriptive text based
on the analysis of some theories and research finding related the application of
jigsaw in teaching writing skill. Based on the references and other research result, it
is found that Jigsaw technique can be used to help students generate their ideas in
their writing because it focuses on using steps of Jigsaw, namely; grouping, sharing,
and writing. It can solve the writing problem by running all of the steps of Jigsaw
which can build strong relationship between students and teacher, and students with
their teammates. This technique also helps students to generate their ideas in writing
descriptive text and they can increase their responsibility to finish their own work or
their group work. The data are obtained from various sources that are processed and
described in a descriptive way. This study is expected to be useful for English
teachers who face similar problem in teaching writing skill.
