This study was aimed to investigate the differences between two Aneuk Jamee varieties spoken in two different regencies Samadua, South Aceh and Meureubo, West Aceh. The linguistic subsystems that were investigated were specifically in phonology, morphology, lexicon, semantic and syntax. To obtain the data from the native speakers, interview guide and observation sheet were used as the instruments. The data were analyzed by using the model proposed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana (2014). It was found that there are 115 differences which are specifically classified into 64 phonological differences, one morphological difference, four lexical semantic differences, and 46 lexical differences. There was no difference in terms of syntax found. Therefore, this study demonstrates that within Aneuk Jamee language, dialect differences are primarily based on phonology and lexicon. Lexical semantic and morphology also play a role whilst syntax is unimportant.

Keywords: dialectology, language varieties, Aneuk Jamee language
