This classroom action research reports how Think Pair Share increases the students’ reading ability of grade II at SMP Negeri 1 Tangan-Tangan Abdya. It was done in two cycles through four steps namely planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The result of the first cycle shows that the success indicator of the students’ reading ability had not been reached where the average score was only 64 or 66.67% (the school KKM is 65). In addition, the result of observation in the first cycle describes that the way the teacher applied the Think Pair Share in the class was still not optimal. From nine points of the activities, the writer had not implemented 3 of them. However, in the second cycle, the reading score of the students have significantly increased at 70.17 or 86.67%. Not only good score, the result of observation in the second cycle also prove that the teacher has better performance in teaching reading class using Think Pair Share, in which she had successfully carried out all the points of the activities.
