ABSTRAK
Keberadaan PT. Medco E&P Malaka merupakan sebuah perusahaan produksi dan
eksplorasi minyak dan gas yang membawa suatu perubahan bagi masyarakat Desa
Bandar Baro. Adapun permasalahan yang dikaji dalam penelitian ini adalah
bagaimana dampak keberadaan PT. Medco E&P Malaka terhadap kondisi sosial
ekonomi masyarakat. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode
kualitatif pendekatan deskriptif dengan teori perubahan sosial Piotr Sztompka.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa adanya dampak positif dan negatif PT.
Medco E&P Malaka terhadap masyarakat Desa Bandar Baro pada aspek sosial
ekonomi. Adapun dampak sosial secara langsung diantaranya: peningkatan
kualitas pendidikan di sekolah bidang pertanian dan peternakan yang merupakan
salah satu bantuan dana CSR, hubungan sosial antar masyarakat masih terjalin
dengan baik meskipun kegiatan sosial sudah menurun, serta adanya bantuan
terhadap sarana publik. Sedangkan dampak ekonomi secara langsung yaitu:
kesempatan bekerja atau peluang pekerjaan di perusahaan sehingga dapat
meningkatkan taraf ekonomi pada pendapatan. Adapun dampak secara tidak
langsung yaitu: PT. Medco E&P Malaka memberikan kesempatan bagi pedagang
untuk berjualan di sekitar wilayah tambang migas untuk menambah pendapatan.

ABSTRACT
The existence of PT. Medco E & P Malaka is an oil and gas production company
and exploration company that brings a change to the people of Bandar Baro
Village. The problems examined in this study are how the impact of the existence
of PT. Medco E & P Malaka towards the socio-economic conditions of the
community. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a
descriptive approach to the theory of social change Piotr Sztompka. The results of
this study indicate that there are positive and negative impacts on PT. Medco E &
P Malaka towards the community of Bandar Baro Village on socio-economic
aspects. The direct social impacts include: improving the quality of education in
schools in agriculture and animal husbandry which is one of the CSR funding
assistence, social relations between communities are still well established even
though social activities have declined, and there is assistance to public facilities.
While the direct economic impact is: employment opportunities or employment
opportunities in companies so as to improve the economic level of income. The
direct impacts are: PT. Medco E&P Malacca provides opportunities for traders to
sell around the oil and gas mining area to increase revenue.
