Based on the writer’s teaching experience, it was found that the students find it difficult to writing skill. This also influenced their ability in composing and producing a good writing. The students were also lack of motivation. To solve this problem, Mind Mapping technique is a solution for students in developing their writing ability. This action research was conducted towards 21 students at SMP Negeri 3 LaweSigalagala, South East Aceh. This study showed that the students’ writing ability improved in the second cycle. 80.95% of the students passed the KKM. Thus, Mind Mapping is a good technique in shaping, &#13;
