Senyum yang estetik dapat berpengaruh terhadap karakteristik psikologis dan kepercayaan diri individu dalam interaksi sosial. Seseorang yang memiliki senyum estetik, akan lebih dapat diterima dalam masyarakat karena dianggap ramah, populer, mudah bergaul, dan cerdas serta lebih menunjukkan perilaku yang positif. Senyum yang estetik sering digunakan sebagai evaluasi pasca perawatan. Namun, penilaian terhadap senyum seringkali bersifat subjektif dan dipengaruhi oleh persepsi individu. Persepsi setiap individu dapat dipengaruhi oleh faktor usia, jenis kelamin dan pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat persepsi Mahasiswi Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Syiah Kuala angkatan 2015-2016 terhadap senyum estetik. Subjek yang terdiri dari 58 orang dikelompokkan menjadi 10 orang setiap kelompok dan mengisi kuesioner yang terdiri dari 7 pertanyaan, masing-masing pertanyaan menampilkan 3 foto. Jawaban yang dipilih subjek akan dihitung menggunakan perhitungan Landis dan Koch. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 86,2% subjek dengan persepsi sangat baik dan baik dan 13,8% dengan persepsi sedang sampai buruk. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah persepsi mahasiswi Kedokteran Gigi angkatan 2015-2016 Universitas Syiah Kuala baik terhadap senyum estetik.

An aesthetic smile can influence psychological characteristics and individual confidence in social interactions. Someone who has an aesthetic smile, will be more acceptable in society because they are considered friendly, popular, sociable, and intelligent and show more positive behavior. An aesthetic smile is often used as a post-treatment evaluation. However, evaluation of smiles is often subjective and influenced by individual perceptions. The perception of each individual can be influenced by age, sex and education. This study aims to look at the perceptions of the students year 2015-2016 from Faculty of dentistry in Syiah Kuala University toward aesthetic smiles. Subjects consisting of 58 people were grouped into 10 people each group and filled out a questionnaire consisting of 7 questions, each question showed 3 photos. The answers chosen by the subject will be calculated using Landis and Koch's calculations. The results showed 86.2% of subjects with very good and good perceptions and 13.8% with moderate to bad perceptions. The conclusion of this study is the perception of students year 2015-2016 from Faculty of dentistry in Syiah Kuala University is good on aesthetic smile.
