Salak (Salacca spp.) merupakan salah satu tumbuhan yang banyak tersebar di Indonesia dan termasuk dalam suku Arecaceae. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengamati karakter morfologi salak, mendeskripsikan salak, menganalisis hubungan kekerabatan dan membuat peta persebaran. Karakter morfologi salak didapatkan melalui pengamatan pada spesimen salak di Herbarium Bogoriense. Karakter salak yang terpilih dijadikan acuan dalam menentukan hubungan kekerabatan antar jenis salak. Program yang digunakan untuk menganalisis hubungan kekerabatan adalah NTSYS, sedangkan peta persebaran menggunakan program ARCGIS. Hasil penelitian pada spesimen salak menunjukkan morfologi salak yaitu pohon salak berkelompok dengan batang pendek, daun salak berbentuk pita atau kipas, duri tersebar di bagian pelepah, tangkai, dan daun, perbungaan dioeceus, dan buah memiliki sisik. Jenis salak yang telah diidentifikasikan berjumlah 7 jenis yaitu Salacca acehensis, S. affinis,                         S. dransfieldiana, S. magnifica, S. sumatrana, S. vermicularis, dan S. zalacca yang tersebar di Pulau Sumatera, Jawa, dan Borneo. Penyebaran salak paling banyak berada di pulau Borneo. Hubungan kekerabatan paling erat dimiliki oleh Salacca sumatrana dan Salacca zalacca dengan koefisien kesamaan 0,75. &#13;

ABSTRACT&#13;
Salak (Salacca spp.) is one of plants belongs to Arecaceae family that are widely spread in Indonesia. This study aimed to obtained morphological characters, to described species, to analyze relationships, and to make distribution maps of snake fruits/salak. Observation of morphological characters used salak specimen at Herbarium of Bogoriense. The selected salak characters used to determine their relationships. Relationship was analysed using the NTSYS program, while the distribution maps used ARCGIS program. Result showed to salac specimen that is the tree of salac clustering with short stem, salac leaf is pinnate or flabellate, scale separated in leafsheath, petiole, and leave, inflorescence dioeceus, fruit covered by scales. There are 7 species salak species identified as Salacca acehensis,                 S. affinis, S. dransfieldiana, S. magnifica, S. sumatrana, S. vermicularis, and              S. zalacca. The most widely spread salak is in Borneo island. The closest relationship was found between Salacca sumatrana and S.  zalacca with coefficients similarity is 0,75. &#13;
