ABSTRACT

Tuberculosis and diabetes mellitus are two diseases that influence each other. A DM-diagnosed patient will be easily exposed to TB due to decreased immune system. Tuberculosis with DM comorbid patients will increase the risk of becoming a multidrug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). Patients with DM on MDR-TB with a poor glycemic control that characterized by an increased HbA1c levels will more likely cause a poorer clinical manisfestation, one of those is radiological manifestation. This research aims to know the relationship of the levels of HbA1c with lesion size of chest x-ray on MDR-TB patients, performed in the Integrated Tuberculosis Care of RSUDZA Banda Aceh. The type of the research is analytical observational study with cross sectional design. Sampling techniques used in this research is a non probability sampling with total sampling method. Sampling of the research was based on secondary data collected from the medical record in the Integrated Tuberculosis Care of RSUDZA. The results of the research were analyzed using Spearman correlation from 30 samples obtained as a result of the study, with p-value = 0.654 (p > 0.05) and correlation coeffecient value 0.085 (0.00-0.25 = very weak correlation). The conclusion of this study is there is no significant relationship between HbA1c levels with lesion size of chest x-ray on multidrug resistant tuberculosis patients conducted at the Integrated Tuberculosis Care of RSUDZA.
