Actinobacteria is a group of bacteria which plays the most significant role in
producing antimicrobials. The purposes of this study were to isolate, to observe
the diversity, and to determine antimicrobial potential of the endophytic
actinobacteria of belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) leaves. The endophytic
actinobacteria were isolated using Humic Acid Vitamin B Agar medium and
purified on ISP-2 medium. Antimicrobial activity test was conducted against
pathogenic microbes Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and
Candida albicans using an agar plug method. Two actinobacteria isolates were
successfully obtained and both isolates showed different morphology
characteristics. AEDB1 and AEDB2 isolates had white and grey aerial mycelium,
respectively. The result of antimicrobial activity test showed that actinobacteria
AEDB1 and AEDB2 isolates could only inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus
aureus with diameter of zone inhibition of 10,15 mm and 8,95 mm, respectively.
