 &#13;
Saluran irigasi D.I. Timbang Deli Kab. Deli Serdang Prov. Sumut memiliki luas&#13;
areal 520 Ha dan saluran sekunder sepanjang 5000 m. Saluran irigasi di D.I.&#13;
Timbang Deli ditumbuhi vegetasi di dasar dan dinding saluran diperkirakan&#13;
mempengaruhi kekasaran saluran mengakibatkan kurangnya kecepatan aliran.&#13;
Tujuan penelitian mengetahui distribusi kecepatan, tahanan aliran dan kehilangan&#13;
energi di saluran. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian adalah observasi&#13;
dilapangan dengan melakukan pengukuran kecepatan aliran, kedalaman aliran dan&#13;
volume vegetasi (VT) pada saluran trapesium berukuran lebar atas 3,75 m dan&#13;
tinggi 0,90 m sepanjang 154 m.  Pengukuran dilakukan pada 3 pias hulu, tengah&#13;
dan hilir saluran dan 5 titik melintang saluran X&#13;
1 hingga X5 sebanyak 4 kali&#13;
pengukuran dengan D1 sebesar 1,32 m³/dtk dan D2 sebesar 0,98 m³/dtk. Jenis&#13;
vegetasi pada saluran dominan bersifat kaku yang mempengaruhi kecepatan&#13;
setinggi vegetasi tersebut. Pengukuran kecepatan menggunakan current meter&#13;
sedangkan untuk volume vegetasi (VT) menggunakan metode grid. Dari hasil&#13;
penelitian diperoleh volume vegetasi VT0 (0,00 m³/0,00%)), VT1 (52,417&#13;
m³/21,14%), VT2 (70,7921 m³/24,51%) dan VT3 (83,053 m³/30,42%). Terlihat&#13;
bertambahnya volume vegetasi mempengaruhi kecepatan aliran sehingga terjadi&#13;
penurunan kecepatan aliran. Penurunan kecepatan terjadi sebesar 0,115 m/dtk –&#13;
0,193 m/dtk dengan persentase 26,71% - 59,31% dibandingkan VT0 saat D1.&#13;
Sedangkan, saat D2 terjadi penurunan kecepatan sebesar 0,082 m/dtk – 0,193 &#13;
m/dtk dengan persentase 18,51% - 43,56% dibandingkan VT0. Demikian juga&#13;
nilai kekasaran yang dihasilkan pada D1 berkisar antara 0,052 – 0,122 dengan&#13;
persentase 16,13% - 57,37% dibandingkan VT0. Sedangkan, saat D2 nilai&#13;
kekasaran berkisar antara 0,044 – 0,070 dengan persentase 15,38% - 37,14%&#13;
dibandingkan VT0. Kehilangan energi  terkecil pada VT2 sebesar 0,154 m dan&#13;
terbesar pada VT3 sebesar 0,273 m saat D1. Sedangkan, saat D2 kehilangan&#13;
energi terkecil pada VT0 sebesar 0,156 m dan terbesar pada VT2 sebesar 0,284 m. &#13;

ABSTRACT  &#13;
Irrigation channel D.I. Timbang Deli, Deli Serdang district,  North Sumatera&#13;
Province has an area of 520 Ha and a channel of 5000 m. Irrigation channel in&#13;
D.I. Timbang Deli is overgrown with vegetation at the base and channel walls so&#13;
that it is expected to affect the roughness of the channel resulting in a lack of flow&#13;
velocity. The research objective is to determine the velocity distribution, flow&#13;
resistance and energy loss in the channel. The method used in the study is field&#13;
observation by measuring flow velocity, depth of flow and volume of vegetation&#13;
(VT) on trapezoidal channels measuring upper width 3.75 m and height 0.90 m&#13;
along 154 m. Measurements were made on 3 upstream, middle and downstream&#13;
channels and 5 transverse points of X1 to X5 channels 4 times with D1 of 1.32&#13;
m³/s and D2 of 0.98 m³/s. The type of vegetation in the dominant channel is rigid&#13;
which affects the speed as high as the vegetation. Measuring velocity using&#13;
current meter while for vegetation volume (VT) using the grid method. From the&#13;
results of the study obtained the volume of vegetation VT0 (0.00 m³/0.00%)),&#13;
VT1 (52.417 m³/21.14%), VT2 (70.7921 m³/24.51%) and VT3 (83,053&#13;
m³/30,42%). Visible increase in the volume of vegetation affects the velocity of&#13;
flow so there is a decrease in flow velocity. Decrease in velocity occurs at 0.115&#13;
m/sec - 0.193 m/sec with a percentage of 26.71% - 59.31% compared to VT0&#13;
when D1. Whereas, when D2 there was a decrease in velocity of 0.082 m/sec - &#13;
0.193 m/sec with a percentage of 18.51% - 43.56% compared to VT0. Likewise,&#13;
the roughness value produced in D1 ranged from 0.052 - 0.122 with a percentage&#13;
of 16.13% - 57.37% compared to VT0. Whereas, when D2 roughness values&#13;
ranged from 0.044 - 0.070 with a percentage of 15.38% - 37.14% compared to&#13;
VT0. The smallest energy loss in VT2 is 0.154 m and the largest in VT3 is 0.273&#13;
m when D1. Meanwhile, when D2 loses the smallest energy at VT0 of 0.156 m&#13;
and largest at VT2 of 0.284 m.&#13;
