This study is entitled “The Correlation between Vocabulary Mastery and Listening Comprehension (A Correlational Study at the Second Year Students of MTsN Tungkob, Aceh Besar)”. It attempts to find out whether there is a correlation between vocabulary mastery and listening comprehension. The method applied on this study was descriptive quantitative method. The population of this study were the second grade students of MTsN Tungkob. The sample of this study was 30 students of class VIII-3 by using simple random sampling. Here, the sample was given two kinds of tests. Those are a set of vocabulary mastery test and listening comprehension test. The vocabulary mastery test was conducted to know the students’ ability in understanding the meaning of words by finding the same meaning and the opposite meaning of the words. The listening comprehension test was also conducted to know their ability in grasping and understanding the information in the oral texts. The result of this research shows that most of the students who got high score in vocabulary mastery test also got high score in listening comprehension test. From the statistical analysis by using Product Moment Correlation, the obtained coefficient of correlation is 0,94. Moreover, the computed t-test is 14,58. Therefore, this result showns that the correlation between vocabulary mastery and listening comprehension is highly positive. It means that the altenative hypothesis (H1) is accepted and null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. In conclusion, there is a correlation between vocabulary mastery and listening comprehension.
