ABSTRAK Keluarga merupakan kelompok sosial yang terkecil yang ada dalam masyarakat. Salah satu yang ingin dicapai dalam suatu keluarga yaitu kesejahteraan. Secara harfiah, kesejahteraan dalam keluarga diwujudkan oleh kepala keluarga, ketika kepala keluarga tidak dapat mewujudkan kesejahteraan maka istri ikut serta dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan keluarga sehingga istri mempunyai dua peran dalam kehidupannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan profil dari keluarga buruh batu bata di Kecamatan Darusalam Gampong Lampeudaya. Dalam profil keluarga ini peneliti mengambil empat fungsi keluarga sebagai indikator dari profil tersebut yaitu fungsi ekonomi, fungsi sosial, fungsi pendidikan, dan yang terakhir fungsi kesehatan. Metode yang digunakan yaitu kualitatif, teknik pengumpulan data dengan wawancaran, teori yang digunkan yaitu teori pertukaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keluaga buruh batu bata Gampong Lampeudaya hidup dalam keadaan sederhana. Kesederhanaan inilah yang mendorong istri-istri dalam rumah tangga ini untuk bekerja sebagai buruh batu bata. Dorongan untuk bekerja sebagai buruh batu bata datang dari diri sendiri, dengan menjadi buruh batu bata terdapat peningkatan ekonomi, pendidikan, dan kesehatan. Istri/ibu rumah tangga dalam penelitiaan ini bekerja sebagai buruh batu bata atas kemauan sendiri untuk memenuhi kebutuhan keluarga, mereka memilih bekerja sebagai buruh batu bata karena suami mereka juga bekerja pada tempat yang sama, tetapi berbeda bagian pekerjaan dengan suami mereka. Dengan menjadi buruh batu bata istri dari keluarga buruh batu bata ini mempunyai andil dalam mempengaruhi profil keluarga. Istri dalam keluarga buruh batu bata dalam penelitian ini memiliki peran ganda. Saran, peran pemerintah sangat dibutuhkan dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan keluarga, diharapkan pemerintah memberikan pelatihan skill lainya agar supaya ketika para buruh buruh tidak bekerja atau sedang tidak memproduksi batu bata ada pekerjaan lainnya yang bisa dikerjakan. Kata Kunci : Profil, Keluarga, Buruh. ABSTRACT The family is an intelligent social group that exists in society. One that wants to be achieved in a family is prosperity. Literally, the prosperity in family is manifested by head of family. When head of family cannot achieve the prosperity, the wife participates to improve it, so that she has two roles in her life. This study aims to describe the profile of the families of brick laborers in Lampeudaya Village, Darussalam District. In this family profile, the researcher wants to observe four functions of family as indicators of the profile, those are economic, social, educational, and health ones. The method used is the qualitative one. The data collection technique is interview. The theory used is the exchange one. The result shows that the families of brick laborers in Lampeudaya Village live simply. It is this simplicity that encourages wives in this household to work as brick laborers. The urge to work as a brick laborer comes from themselves, because they are sure that being a brick laborer can improve the quality of economy, education, and health. The housewife in this study work as the brick laborers by their own willing. To fulfill the needs of family, they opt to work as brick laborers because their husbands also work in the same place but with different kind of job each other. By being the brick laborers, these wives have contribution to the family profile. The wives in those brick laborer families have double roles. As a suggestion, in this case, the government’s role should be required to increase the family’s prosperity. The government is expected to conduct a kind of skill training in order when the laborers is not working or not producing the brick, there are some other jobs which is able to do.
