ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis umpan yang paling efektif untuk menangkap ikan sidat dengan menggunakan alat tangkap pancing di Sungai Brayeun Kecamatan Leupung Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Jenis umpan yang diuji adalah udang, cacing, usus ayam, bekicot dan ikan mujair pada tiga lokasi sampling yaitu muara, tengah dan hulu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey eksploratif yang dilakukan berdasarkan penanggalan Hijriah terhitung dari bulan Rajab hingga Ramadhan selama tiga bulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa hasil tangkapan terbanyak menggunakan jenis umpan udang dengan 26 ekor ikan sidat/lokasi. Tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan jumlah hasil tangkapan setiap bulan namun terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan hasil tangkapan berdasarkan mingguan, dimana ikan sidat hanya tertangkap pada minggu pertama dan minggu keempat saja setiap bulannya berdasarkan bulan hijriah. Hasil analisis data menggunakan Analysis of Variance menunjukkan rata-rata 8,67 ekor ikan sidat perbulan. Sehingga dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa penggunaan jenis umpan yang berbeda berpengaruh terhadap hasil tangkapan ikan sidat (Anguilla marmorata), dan jenis umpan yang paling efektif adalah udang.

ABSTRACT

This study aims at determining the most effective species of baits for catching eel by using fishing rod in Brayeun which lies in Leupung, Aceh Besar District. The species of bait which used to be tested are shrimps, worms, intestine of chicken, snails and tilapia fish at three sampling sites namely estuary, middle and upstream. Explorative survey was used as the method of this study which conducted based on Hijr calendar encounted from Rajb to Ramadhan for three months. The result of this study shows that the catches gotten the most are the ones which use shrimp as the bait. The catches are about 26 heads of eel for each site. There is no significant difference in the number of catches for each month. However, there is significant difference of the catches for each week in which the eels are only caught in the first and the fourth week for each month in Hijr calendar. The data were analyzed by using Analysis Of Varience. The result of the analysis shows that the catches are about 8,67 heads of eel per month. So that, it can be concluded that the use of different species of bait could affect eel catching (Anguilla marmorata). In this study, shrimp becomes the most effective bait for catching the eel.
