Title : Decription of Dental Hygiene and Oral Smoker On Society in
Lamreh Village, Aceh Besar District

Smoking is a habit which is carried by almost all levels of society. Smoking can cause health problems and even death because it can lead to cancer, chronic cardiac, vascular, and oral cavity. Diseases of the oral cavity that can arise due to smoke include caries, periodontal disease, bad breath to cancer of the mouth. Periodontal tissue damage caused by smoking, starting with the the accumulation of plaque on the teeth. Tar build up on the teeth apart cause aesthetic problems, also causes tooth surfaces become rough, so easy to attach to the plaque, and affect the dental and oral hygiene. The purpose of this study was to describe the dental and oral hygiene in the village of smokers in society Lamreh Aceh Besar District. This type of research is descriptive research with cross-sectional design. The study involved 40 subjects who met the inclusion criteria. The research subjects filled in a questionnaire provided and examined the level of cleanliness of the oral cavity. The results showed a description of dental and oral hygiene smokers in the community in the village Lamreh Aceh Besar District as measured by the index of OHI-S is an index oral hygiene category well as 0 person (0%), the categories were as many as 16 people (40%) and bad category as many as 24 people (60%).

Desa Lamreh Kabupaten Aceh Besar

Merokok merupakan kebiasaan yang dilakukan oleh hampir semua lapisan masyarakat. Merokok dapat menyebabkan gangguan kesehatan bahkan kematian karena dapat memicu penyakit kanker, jantung kronis, vaskular, dan rongga mulut. Penyakit rongga mulut yang dapat timbul akibat merokok diantaranya adalah karies, penyakit periodontal, bau mulut hingga kanker mulut. Kerusakan jaringan periodontal akibat merokok, diawali dengan terjadinya akumulasi plak pada gigi. Tar yang mengendap pada gigi selain menimbulkan masalah secara estetik, juga menyebabkan permukaan gigi menjadi kasar, sehingga mudah dilekati plak, dan mempengaruhi kebersihan gigi dan mulut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran kebersihan gigi dan mulut perokok pada masyarakat di Desa Lamreh Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan desain cross-sectional. Penelitian ini melibatkan 40 subjek yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Subjek penelitian mengisi kuisioner yang diberikan serta diperiksa tingkat kebersihan rongga mulutnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan gambaran kebersihan gigi dan mulut perokok pada masyarakat di Desa Lamreh Kabupaten Aceh Besar yang diukur dengan indek OHI-S yaitu indeks kebersihan gigi dan mulut katagori baik sebanyak 0 orang (0%), katagori sedang sebanyak 16 orang (40%) dan katagori buruk sebanyak 24 orang (60%).
