Advisors: (1) Dr. Bukhari Daud, M.Ed (2) Dr. Siti Sarah Fitriani, M.A. Keywords: Hikayat Prang Sabi, Generic Structure, Lexical Features Hikayat Prang Sabi became so incendiary to courage jihad or holy war in the war against the Netherlands more than 30 years. This study has the purpose to analyse this fenomenal Hikayat Prang Sabi in uplifting the spirit of the Acehnese in the wartime. The document needed for the research was the script or text of Hikayat Prang Sabi that was transliterated by Tgk. Mahmud Ali, the grandchild of the author of the Hikayat. This study obtained documentation type of qualitative data, and since the study was a descriptive research, thus all data were analyzed descriptively.In this study, the Hikayat Prang Sabi was analyzed by two aspects; generic structures and lexical features, in order to know how this Hikayat could uplift the spirit of the Acehnese in wartime. The generic structure of this Hikayat was analyzed by using Swales‘ rhetorical movement analysis approach, while the lexical features were analyzed by using stylistic method. The analysis of generic structure indicates that the Hikayat consists of three moves: introduction, content, and conclusion. There are some steps under each moves and these are discussed in this thesis. The messages written by the author in the moves and steps are closely related to Islamic teaching. The analysis of the lexical features used by the author shows that the te chnical terms used in Hikayat are those found in Islamic teaching. To conclude, the generic structure and lexical features in Hikayat Prang Sabi consists of Islamic message and these have uplifted the spirit of Acehnese to fight during the wartime.
